Here we go - Weekly Indie Log #8! Last week I said I would double down on marketing week and put in two weeks back to back. Turns out I could only do marketing sporadically due to personal commitments.
However, this doesn’t mean I did not do anything at all! I managed to do some pretty cool stuff. From my last edition of the Weekly Indie Log, you probably know that I setup my email drip sequence using Loops.so. Last week I triggered some of the loops to selected segments of my user base.

Sending Onboarding Emails

I send out my first batch of onboarding emails to 2 different segment of users:
  • Those who signed up but did not create a blog
  • Those who created a blog but did not link their Notion database

No Blog Created Email

The first email I sent targeted those users who signed up and checkout out Stomod without actually creating a blog. This is how the email looks like:
No blog created email sent from Stomod

After sending out the email, Loop.so allows you to view open rates and click-through rates of email. As of today, these are the stats for the above email:

Blog Not Linked Email

Another email which is trigger 24 hours after you create a blog is if you’ve not linked your Stomod blog to Notion. This is how the email looks like:

Overall the open rates are pretty solid but the click through rate leaves a lot to be desired. This is something for me to improve and iterate on.

SEO

From next week onwards, I’m going to rebrand marketing week to marketing & SEO week. I have been starting to look seriously into SEO and the idea is to write a couple of blog posts during SEO week based on my keyword research for stomod.com
I was thinking of getting a freelancer to take care of this for me, but I want to keep quality under my control for now and see if I can fit this in my marketing week.

Other Marketing Endeavours

I have also started working on a cold outreach campaign to Notion influencers. I built a pretty solid list of influencers I want to work with and the idea is to reach out to them and get some sort of collab going. This bring me nicely to my next topic: affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Program for Stomod

I have completed the setup of an affiliate program for Stomod, which I have not officially launched yet! This is going to happen next week but I wanted to make this affiliate program more in-grained into Stomod.
Taking cues from Wilson from Senja, I decided to enable users of Stomod to allow the Made with Stomod badge to link to Stomod with their referral link.

I will officially launch this program next week and will be using this in my pitch to prospective Notion collaborators as this allows them to earn 20% on any sale from Stomod.
That’s it from me for this week! It’s a shorter one than usual. Coding week is going to be fire as I plan to ship one of my most important feature for Stomod - analytics. Stay tuned for the next one which will cover this in details. Cheer! 🫡
